The Chief Asset Management Officer (CAMO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic direction and executive oversight for the organization’s HUD Performance-Based Contract Administration (PBCA) portfolio. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, program performance, and continuous improvement across all PBCA service areas while helping shape the future growth and strategic direction of the organization.
The CAMO will lead complex housing compliance and asset management operations, foster strong partnerships with HUD and industry stakeholders, and champion innovative approaches that strengthen program integrity, customer service, and organizational impact. This position offers a unique opportunity for an accomplished housing industry executive with deep PBCA expertise to influence national affordable housing initiatives, support high-performing teams, and play a pivotal role in advancing National Housing Compliance (NHC)’s mission and long-term success through strategic leadership, business development, and industry engagement.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Housing Management, or a related field, master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or related discipline). 10–12 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in HUD programs, PBCA operations, and affordable housing compliance with seven years’ supervisory and departmental level responsibilities. Executive leadership experience within a PBCA or large-scale housing compliance organization preferred managing large-scale government contracts. Experience in housing compliance consulting, technical assistance, or advisory services. Demonstrated success in business development and contract acquisition. Proven experience leading multi-functional teams across geographically dispersed operations. Strong financial acumen, including budget development and resource allocation. Deep knowledge of HUD regulations, PBCA requirements, and housing compliance frameworks. Experience with HUD systems and reporting requirements
Certification, training, or specialized degree required: CPM, Broker's License, PMP
National Housing Compliance is a 501(c)(4) corporation headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia with a regional presence in Chicago, Illinois. NHC was specifically created by its member agencies to conduct performance-based contract administration for the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, as well as provide professional services to the affordable housing industry. As the performance-based contract administrator (PBCA), we must audit federally assisted properties to ensure that they are in compliance with their contract and all program requirements. NHC conducts this work for approximately 900 federally assisted properties throughout Georgia and Illinois.
