The Buckley School, an all-boys K-8 + Academy Year school, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to assist with the daily maintenance of the school campus.
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building repairs and preventative maintenance tasks. This work will encompass multiple fields, including but not limited to: HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other tasks as necessary. This is a full-time position, eligible for overtime as directed by the Director of Facilities.
Responsibilities Include:
Observes appearance and conditions of premises, grounds and equipment; notifies Director of Facilities of all needed supplies, repairs, safety hazards, or conditions
Maintains records, checklists and prepares requested reports
Performs basic electrical maintenance (e.g. light fixture repair, ballast replacement, wall switches, outlets and low voltage cabling)
Performs basic repair and carpentry work (e.g. painting, wall repair, furniture/shelving installation, general repair)
Performs periodic inspections of Fire Safety Equipment
Works closely with maintenance team to coordinate efforts and maintain communication
Performs duties as a Fire Safety Team member
Performs related duties as assigned, such as general cleaning, snow removal and event setup/breakdown
Develops relationships with and becomes part of the school community

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate
Ability to communicate orally and in writing, including the ability to maintain logs and prepare written reports
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills, especially texting and emailing. Familiarity with work ticketing systems a plus
5 years of relevant experience - working in a school a plus
Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in a standing/bending position for extended periods of time
Must be able to crawl, twist, turn, and reach to complete a variety of job duties, work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time, operate machines and any other job required for the maintenance of the School
Physically able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
Ability to obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness F03, within 60 days of employment
Ability to obtain the following FDNY Certificates of Fitness: F01, S12, S13 & S95 is preferred
