Location/Schedule: This position is based in NE Portland, Oregon, but will require frequent trips into the field to cover maintenance at various Cascadia properties throughout the Portland and metro areas. The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Incumbent will need to be prepared to drive a company van to and from work, as that is their permanent workspace.

Program description: The Maintenance Technician, II is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of building systems and infrastructure within assigned portfolio. This role ensures that all systems—including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety—are functioning efficiently and in compliance with healthcare regulations. The technician plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and operational environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
This position must understand, appreciate, and respect the differences within our Cascadia community. As such, it is expected that this position promotes integrated care, our vision of trauma-informed and person-first approaches, and helps create a work environment of safety and acceptance.
Essential Responsibilities

Complete and accurately record all maintenance work orders according to priority and company policies.
Understand building plans and specifications at each location within portfolio.
Calculate amounts of required materials, and cost estimates based on workorder and other relevant factors.
Maintain inventory on materials used on projects and repairs.
Complete assigned work according to best practice and director from supervisor.
Perform routine, non-licensed electrical inspections; troubleshoot and test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency using various testing instruments.
Coordinate major electrical repairs and maintenance with qualified electrician, as directed by the Supervisor or Manager of Facilities
Perform minor plumbing repairs, such as faucet replacements, toilet installations, disposals, outlets, and light fixtures.
Conduct scheduled inspections on building systems and property identify best solutions for remedy.
Maintain all HVAC systems and associated equipment.
Maintain company equipment, ensuring proper care, inventory, and functionality.
Assist in the coordination of renovations, preventative maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
Carry the emergency maintenance phone on a rotating schedule.
Assist with snow and ice removal as necessary.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or installations
Support emergency preparedness efforts, including backup power systems and evacuation procedures
Perform other duties as assigned.
Regulatory & Compliance:
Comply with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures under which the program and company operates.
Assist in crisis situations as appropriate.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation that ensures compliance with all agency policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
Follow safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials, water contaminants, and biohazards.
Adhere to HIPAA, fire regulations, and compliance standards for facility operations.
Understand safety regulations and evacuation procedures; participate in regular safety drills in compliance with program policies and procedures.
Complete assigned employee training in compliance with program and company requirements.
Provide guidance, support, and training to other staff in alignment with company mission and values.
Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and company meetings.
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Technical certification or associate degree in building maintenance, HVAC, or related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting is required.
Experience working in multifamily housing, commercial properties, or with individuals experiencing mental health and addiction challenges is preferred.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Proficient in using maintenance management software (CMMS)
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Other:
Possess a valid driver’s license, minimum of one year driving history, ability to pass Driver Motor Vehicle (DMV) check and complete the Cascadia online Defensive Driving course.
Must be available for occasional evening, weekend, or emergency work.
