Facility Maintenance Technician

Title:  Facility Maintenance Technician 

Location: Eddyville, Iowa 
Salary:  up to $21.50/hr (DOE)
Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00am -2:30pm

What Will I Be Doing?  

Here are just a few things you can expect to do daily:  

• Team member must be able to work in a team oriented and safety conscious environment. âœSafety First❠expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures. 

• Assigned tasks list to include, but not limited to, repairs, and maintains building structures, systems, and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, manufacturersâ™ specifications, or supervisorâ™s instructions, using hand and power tools, precision measuring or testing devices. 

• Responsible for general maintenance as assigned including minor carpentry, repairs of furniture, doors, windows, plumbing, etc. 

• Clears stoppages in sanitary or storm drainage systems using plumberâ™s snake, vacuum, or manual plungers. 

• Replaces defective bulbs in buildings or on the exterior areas of the plant. 

• Performs minor inspection duties where directed. 

• Must have working knowledge and be able to operate the following: skid steer loaders, vacuum truck and water jetting equipment, scissors lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and hand / power tools. 

• Must be able to use hand tools on a daily basis such as power tools (hand grinders, saws, impact wrenches, drill press, and hydraulic pullers), and rigging equipment. Also perform welding, using a cutting torch as required. 

• Must be able to operate and have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, basket trucks, and skid loaders. 

• Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc. utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks 

• Must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job. 

• Employee will perform any and all other duties that are assigned by the responsible supervisor 

• Ensures compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures. 

• Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals to include employee development planning. 

• Communications with all team members to assist the development of short- and long-range planning in assist of the companyâ™s goals and objectives 

• Maintain personal tools required for your job to include an up to date documented personal tool lists. Required tool listing to be supplied as part of employment. 

• Meet physical requirements of the job. Physical requirements of the job will be provided to you prior to employment. 

• Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. 

• Accurate and timely administrative duties to include, but not limited to, time accounting and work order completion. 

• Must maintain positive customer and employee relations.

• Experience: Five yearsâ™ experience in industrial maintenance and repairs preferred. 

  

What are the physical demands of the role?

• Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required  

• Ability to move for extended or continuous periods of time  

• Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools  

• Ability to operate applicable hand tools, power tools, and equipment  

• Ability to operate forklifts or other vehicles in a safe manner   

• Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties 

• Communication/ Expression â”The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  

• Information Ordering â” The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
