Qualifications –
Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field (preferred)
Relevant certifications or licenses, such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
Experience with building automation systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Physical ability to perform manual tasks and work in various environments (e.g., climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects)
Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes
The Building Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various systems within a building to ensure its functionality, safety, and efficiency. This includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems. The building engineer must possess a strong understanding of building systems and be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
Perform routine maintenance tasks and inspections on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems
Diagnose and repair malfunctions or defects in equipment and systems
Monitor and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure proper operation and comfort for building occupants
Troubleshoot HVAC system issues and make adjustments as needed
Maintain electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and emergency backup systems
Perform electrical repairs and installations in compliance with safety regulations
Inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and water heaters
Address plumbing emergencies and ensure proper functioning of drainage and sewage systems
Operate and maintain building automation systems (BAS) to control and monitor building equipment and systems Program BAS for optimal performance and energy efficiency
Ensure that building systems and equipment meet safety standards and regulatory requirements
Conduct safety inspections and implement measures to prevent accidents and hazards
Respond to building emergencies, such as power outages, floods, or fires, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks and minimize damage
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs, including reviewing service logs
Manage third-party vendors providing services to facility
Document equipment specifications, warranties, and service contracts
