Job Description Summary
Maintains, repairs, and installs HVAC equipment, ductwork, controls, exhaust equipment and kitchen equipment. Analyze/assess problems quickly and accurately, act independently and with little supervision and the ability to learn new tasks and systems. Understand instrumentation and automated systems operations, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance. Manages time well, accomplishing tasks on schedule and the willingness to perform all assigned tasks within their ability
Job Description
- Utilize the Building Management System (BMS) to control Utilities equipment and systems including various steam, water purification, refrigeration, wastewater, compressed air/gas systems, and hazardous chemicals.
- Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls to determine problems and perform necessary repairs
- Maintain HVAC equipment on an ongoing basis as part of the facilities preventive maintenance program
- Installs duct work refrigeration piping, air conditioning units, and exhaust equipment
- Repair kitchen equipment such as walk-in coolers, freezers, refrigerators, and ice makers
- Perform other related duties as assigned such as snow removal, assisting other tradesmen, and emergency repairs
- Adhere to established HVAC work order preventive maintenance schedule
- Provide labor for preventive maintenance and repairs to HVAC equipment and systems
- HVAC chiller maintenance and repairs
- Adhere to established HVAC work order preventive maintenance schedule

- Lift up to 50 lbs may be required

Qualifications
- Must be familiar with HVAC and electrical codes
- Must hold HVAC mechanic license and be certified for CFC refrigerant recovery
- Minimum of 5+ years as an HVAC mechanic in a commercial/industrial facility
- Ability to plan and organize work
- Capable of brazing, soldering and welding

Education (Preferred)
- Possess a high school diploma or an approved GED.
- Possess a current Operating Engineerâ™s Certification or capable of doing so within 90 days of accepting the position.
- An Associateâ™s Degree in Industrial, Engineering, or Management
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Possess or have ability to obtain a HVAC license
